Today Baby E and I made chocolate covered pretzels, Valentine’s Day style. We wanted to do a trial run for our Valentine’s Day gifts, as well as perform a taste test for ‘quality control’ of course! This was a fun project to do with a toddler. Messy – but fun! Once the pretzels have been coated with the chocolate base, let the little ones go for it with colorful drizzles and sprinkles.
Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe
Our Ingredients:
1 bag pretzel rods
1 bag white chocolate chips
1 bag milk chocolate chips
1 bag red candy melts
1 bag pink candy melts
red and pink sprinkles
Instructions:
Melt white and milk chocolate chips separately over a double boiler or in the microwave. Spoon chocolate over 3/4 of pretzel rod. Place chocolate coated pretzel on a rack or parchment paper and allow to harden completely (unless using sprinkles, candy or nut toppings, then add them immediately before chocolate hardens).
While chocolate is hardening, melt red and pink candy melts in two small, glass bowls in the microwave. Transfer to a pastry bag or squeeze bottle and drizzle over chocolate covered pretzels (good time to bring in your little helper!). If you don’t have pastry bags or squeeze bottles handy, you can go free form like Baby E and I did. We like to think of ourselves as artists….
Enjoy!

Corinna, great idea for Valentine’s Day gifts! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chocolate covered pretzels. I’ll have to work with daughter to help me make some of these. Thanks for sharing your recipe today. :)

Oh my! Those look like heaven. And they are easy to make, so that is totally heavenly. My girls would love to make these. Think we’ll make them this weekend. Wish we could bring sweets to school (no candy policy) because my daughter’s birthday is Valentine’s day and these would be perfect. Guess I’m stuck with pencils or something not so yummy.
Thank you!
Wow they do look like such amazing Valentine’s presents! Yum delicious! :-)
