As you know, garage organization is one of my favorite things to do! Well…there might be a few things that I would prefer to do on a Saturday afternoon, but there is nothing more fulfilling than totally cleaning out a garage and organizing it.
This is the ‘Before’ photo of my friends’ garage this past weekend. They have 3 small children and all of the ‘stuff’ that goes along with them. Their goal was to (1) make room for working out; (2) get everything organized so it could be found quickly; and (3) purge the items that were no longer needed.
We started by pulling everything out of the garage and onto the driveway so we could see what we were working with. We were surprised to find a baby under all of that stuff!
Then we separated the items that we knew would not be going back into the garage. Those went either into a donate pile or directly into a garbage can. Next we placed empty, plastic bins on the garage floor to start organizing the items that would be staying by type. We invited all of the little ones to help us with this step.
It took a few hours, but we were able to put everything away and make sure it was clearly labeled. However you will see in the photo above that there are still several strollers, scooters, bicycles, and tricycles on each side of the garage. This is one of side effects of having multiple children that you will just have to live with for 18 years or so.
