Yesterday was National Margarita Day so I thought I would share my favorite margarita recipe. This is Bear’s fabulous low-cal margarita recipe and it is my absolute favorite!
I cannot order margaritas when we go out anymore unless that are as fresh and pure as this one. It’s made with all natural ingredients (are tequila and Cointreau considered natural??), and most importantly no artificial sweeteners. Most low-cal margarita recipes call for some sort of fake, chemical-y tasting sweetener or sweetened mix. This one is just the classic margarita ingredients with a little agave nectar to sweeten it slightly. He adapted this recipe from an article we read in the Wall Street Journal a few years ago. The total calorie count – 225!
Low-Cal Margarita Recipe:
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar
1/2 ounce water
Fill a shaker with ice and add tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Mix 1/2 ounce agave nectar with 1/2 ounce water and add to shaker. Shake and serve. Total calorie count – 225.
