Chocolate Covered Cheerios for Valentine’s Day

Baby E and I decided to make toddler friendly Valentine’s Day treats today – Chocolate Covered Cheerios. Last week we made chocolate covered pretzels which were fun and messy, but not toddler approved for snacking. Try eating one of those with 6 teeth!

These Chocolate Covered Cheerios are perfect Valentine’s Day treats for Baby E and her tooth challenged, toddler friends. I considered using Happy Puffs (which we often refer to as ‘baby crack’), but Cheerios seemed much more appropriate.

We did not use an actual recipe for this – just kind of winged it. Here are the basic ingredients and process we used which can be varied as desired:

Ingredients:
Cheerios
White Chocolate Chips
Milk Chocolate Chips
Red Candy Melts
Pink Candy Melts

Melt chosen base coat chocolate or candy melts in microwave. Put handful of cheerios into melted chocolate and stir to coat. Use a fork to remove the cheerios from the chocolate. Then use a toothpick to scoop each cheerio off of the fork and lay on parchment paper. Allow chocolate to harden, and then drizzle with desired accent color.

Enjoy!
